Sorry to everyone that sent me emails and received a late response.  I was on a 10 day vacation and I apologize for the delay.  The page is updated, we removed the guestbook since our web hosting site does not like us.  The first benefit for Mia is Saturday March 29th, 2008.  It is being held at the Glenolden VFW on Oak Ave in Glenolden, PA.  I am told these tickets have already been sold out.  We are hoping to have a date and location for the second benefit by the end of the business week.  I have set up email accounts to help with questions.  We need help getting baskets made and items for auctioning.

If you have a question or comment for Kevin or Erin you can email them at family@helpmiamarie.com

If you have any gift basket ideas for auctioning or ways to raise money email Stacey at stacey@helpmiamarie.com

Any general questions or donation questions contact me at chris@helpmiamarie.com

Many of you on my friends list know Kevin and Erin. Some of you know the story of little Mia's life the past month, for those of you who do not here it is. Mia was born on Friday February 8th, 2008.

She had no complications when she was born. Mia had a low body temperature, but as far as the doctors were concerned, it was normal. Kevin, Erin, and Mia were sent home Sunday from Bryn Mawr Hospital. The following day is when this nightmare begins. Monday Kevin and Erin noticed Mia's color starting to change, not knowing what to do they rushed her to their pediatricians office. The pediatrician noticed odd behavior right away and called an ambulance to have little Mia rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was then hooked up to almost every machine a baby can be attached to. Rigorous tests were performed and doctors told Kevin and Erin that Mia was consistently having seizures, and they didn't know what is causing them or how long she has been having them. After a few days they were able to provide medication that would prevent the seizures, so they could run cat scans on her brain for activity. The next day is when they received the worst news of all. The doctors told Kevin and Erin that their child had no brain activity at all, and would most likely never be able to breathe on her own. Kevin and Erin had a tough decision, a decision that no parent should ever have to make. In protecting Erin, Kevin decided to remove the ventilator and let god be the judge on whether baby Mia should, or should not be with us. Kevin said "If she is meant to be here, I will take care of my little girl till' the day I die." Here we are two weeks later and baby Mia is overcoming all odds. She is breathing on her own, and making progress every day. No one knows what the outcome of this story may be, but what we do know is that we have a miracle baby among us.

Over the next few weeks I will be planning a benefit for Kevin, Erin, and Mia. Kevin and Erin have spend most of the last month in the hospital. Just because we go through rough times doesn't mean the bills stop coming in. Mia is going to need special care when she gets home, and she is going to need special equipment. It is very hard to be financially prepared for a situation as this, and it can only add to the stress of an already delicate situation. I would like to relieve as much stress from this family and raise as much money as possible. Lets give Mia a chance to survive, and lets give a family some hope.

If you can help in any way please feel free to contact me. We are going to need all the help we can get in spreading the word, and finding ways to raise money. We will soon be setting up an account for Kevin, Erin, and Mia for monetary donations. No donation is too small. I will soon have a Date, Time, and Location of our benefit. I will keep everyone posted on the details, in the mean time below is my contact information.
